- Associated Grant Makers
AGM is another grantmaker association serving Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island foundations, corporate giving programs and other organized donor institutions. The Maine Philanthropy Center
- Council on Foundations
COF is the international membership organization for grantmaking foundations and corporations. From their Select-a-Topic window on their homepage, select Corporate Foundations/Giving Programs for a comprehensive listing of resources, publications and conference information. COF also lists the many “affinity groups” for those interested in such topics as environment, health care, civic participation, evaluation etc.
- The Foundation Center
The oldest & most comprehensive listing of foundation information with an easily navigated website. There is a special section for grantmakers but don’t overlook the Philanthropy News Digest to see how philanthropy makes the news daily. The Maine Philanthropy Center library is linked to the Foundation Center to make research possible for nonprofits in 8 Maine communities.
- Giving Forum
The website for the Forum of Regional Association of Grantmakers offers an easy way to find other associations throughout the country. On the home page, click on For Companies that Want to Give for resources on corporate giving.
- The Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy
This forum is led by CEO’s with an agenda exclusively focused on corporate giving. To help increase giving, it has established an interim goal of $15 billion in total corporate giving by 2004, up from $9.6 billion in 1998.
Boston Research, Training and Consulting Organizations
- The Center for Corporate Citizenship
The Center is located at Boston College and offers training, convenings, consulting services and research. Their website offers a calendar of programs, research findings and links to other regional and national resources.
- Foundation Strategy Group
FSG is a professional consulting firm working with corporate, private, family and community foundations to evaluate and increase their philanthropic impact. They have worked with a variety of corporate clients to create a company-wide philanthropic agenda that represents a win both for society and the corporation.
- The Philanthropic Initiative
TPI is a non-profit organization providing consulting services to foundations, corporations and individuals to help them to create more strategic and fulfilling philanthropic programs. Examples of their corporate clients include AOL/Time Warner, CVS, Lucent and Putnam Investments.
- The Center for Effective Philanthropy
The Center is a nonprofit resource for those interested in accessing recent research on foundation effectiveness or local seminars to improve foundation performance and learn new management tools.
